BIOSTATISTICIAN University of Pittsburgh seeks Biostatistician at University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. Duties: Provide pre-clinical and clinical biostatistics and bioinformatics support to researchers under supervision of senior biostatisticians to explore relationship between germline and somatic mutations to DNA that drive the initiation and recurrence of cancer. Support analyses of gene expression, proteomic, genetic or other genomic datasets. Confer with senior and key personnel regarding research needs and methods. Design, implement, maintain and update statistical programs and scripts in SAS, R and BioConductor. Collaborate with investigators to design statistical analysis plans, protocols and studies, and develop testable hypotheses. Recommend strategies for creation, completion and analysis of research projects. Work independently to perform, analyze and interpret statistical analyses and determine experimental processes and data analysis methodology. Present results to research teams and explain statistical concepts to collaborators in a variety of disciplines. Identify and correct data problems. Support grant writing. Prepare technical reports and peer-reviewed publications. Requirements: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Biostatistics or Statistics. Must have knowledge, through course work or experience, of: (i) biostatistical and bioinformatical analysis and methodology; (ii) analysis of gene expression, proteomic, genetic or other genomic datasets; (iii) statistics theory and application; (iv) clinical trials; (v) medical and/or epidemiological research and working knowledge of molecular biology to perform analyses; (vi) clinical and laboratory research methodology; (vii) programming in C, SAS, R and BioConductor; (viii) Linux system and Shell scripting; and (ix) FORTRAN.
